End of Summer Update

Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center, view from Heritage Garden. August was a busy and full month of wine. Wine sales, service and events. But not wine writing. If you have visited Prosser, Washington, or plan on a visit to the real Washington wine country, then the must stop destination is the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center (Clore Center). Which is where you can often find me pouring Washington wine and telling stories of Washington wine country. August was an especially busy month at the Clore Center. Wonderfully busy! One of my Instragram posts. To keep current on my “live” wine adventures, you can follow my wild4wawine instagram account . This summer I began to embrace instagram in preparation for my trip to Catalunya. It is now my go to application for sharing photos of my wine experiences. While I'm still tweeting, instagram is the best place to find out which wines I'm tasting and pouring. Pretty pictures too. DO Emporda, Catalunya. Cat...

6 Essential Summer Wines for Chilling and Grilling

A selection of wonderful wines perfect for summer. During the heat of the day I lean towards crisp white wines and the occasional rose' wine. As the day winds down I prefer a chilled red wine with my grilled steak. I'm here to help you select wines suitable for your summer fun and meals. We've already had a lot of heat in the Columbia Valley, so I've had the opportunity to taste and pair these wines in summer like conditions. These are some of my favorite wines which I have enjoyed over the last few years. They are essential wines, wonderful for building your summer menu and sharing with friends. All of these bottles should retail for less than $20 each and are terrific values. My list includes three white wines, one sparkling rose' and two red wines. I have a full tank of propane and a patio prepped for relaxing, so I'm grilling it up outside all summer! Grab some of these wines and experience an essential summer. Cheers! 6 Essential Summer Wines Tas...

Summer is for Purple Star 2013 Chardonnay and 2011 Syrah @purplestarwines

Is it summer yet?  I have a new grill and it is getting daily use in the sunshine of eastern Washington. When I think grilled foods I also think wine. Are you looking for affordable delicious wines for summer? My friends at Purple Star Wines are producing tasty wines at reasonable prices. These are perfect summer wines, serve chilled and enjoy with grilled foods. Tasting Notes Purple Star 2013 Chardonnay Color : Polished gold Nose : Mineral, toast, pear skin, whiff of allspice. Palate : Fresh pear, juicy, brioche, hint of cinnamon with pear skin on the lightly creamy finish. Tingle on the gums. Enjoyed with dinner and with the setting sun. Day two : Lush, juicy, spicy pear, most of the action mid-palate, creamy pear, with a lingering floral flourish. Very good now and likely to improve in the bottle. Thoughts : Tremendous value in this Washington Chardonnay. No summer BBQ would be complete without a bottle of Purple Star Chardonnay. A balanced tasty white w...
