Bookwalter 2010 SUBPLOT No. 26 Red Wine @BookwalterWine

This vintage has become popular at our home. My wife and I agree that it is a great table wine. We've been drinking Bookwalter wines together since 1990. I should note that I no longer see this wine listed on their website. Look for it at your local grocer and stock up while you can. This review is a re-visit, I originally reviewed this wine a year ago on 4 September 2012. It has held up well.

Tasting Notes

Color: Deeply colored wine of purple with ruby rim.
Nose: A profusion of aromas, blueberry, black licorice, espresso, green tea, Crème brûlée and a sliver of sandalwood.
Palate: Generous in the mouth, giving flavors of cherry, blackberry, vanilla cream, espresso and green tea, a slightly bitter finish, dry with an affectionate tingle on the gums. Absolutely stellar four hours later, fluid, smooth, tasty. Day two, surprisingly saved enough for a glass - modest nose, but no modesty with the flavor, intense dark fruit, cherry fruit leather, rolling tobacco, fine tannin, freshness top palate and medium long finish. All gone.

Thoughts: Quite exceptional at opening. This should be a regular feature at the dinner table and at parties. Dang tasty on day two, too. Drink now if you can find it. Recommended.

Blend: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec, 14% Merlot, 8% Syrah, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Zinfandel, 1% Grenache.

Spirit Review: Ole Smokey Tennessee Moonshine White Lightnin' @OleSmoky

Today I have crossed the line from wine to spirits. At 100 proof the Ole Smokey Tennessee Moonshine is definitely turning up the volume (ABV 50%). Review: Sho Chiku Bai, Unfiltered Sake

Last month in Seattle, I purchased a bottle of Nigori sake at Uwajimaya. Uwajimaya is one of the largest Asian grocery retailers in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve been visiting Uwajimaya for almost 40 years. When I was much younger, I’d buy model ship and plane kits, Japanese comic books (manga) and I never left without at least one steaming Humbow in hand.
